Interesting application of the "General Duty" clause
Some fall out from the "Black Friday" trampling in NY.
I'm suprised that the actual fine amount is so low.

OSHA got handed some more teeth after the 911 commission report came out. Under some of the new whistle blower protection rules OSHA can hand down punitive damages to railroads, and airlines up to $250,000.00 thats pretty steep. Some other injury reporting provision retaliation statutes have been materially strengthened as well.

I think that OSHA stepping up to the plate on such an issue is a smart move. I think the fine should have been a bit higher; however, that is nothing compared to what the civil suit will yield.
