I could have sworn I posted this but ive gotten no notification that it has been moved perhaps it did not post.

We have formed a face book group related to ongoing criminal activity in my area. A petition was started based on public outcry and so far it is going very well.

We are asking for more active patrols in the town

Hiring of an additional officer

Public relations training for the officers currently employed

Revocation of the policy of "citizen rider" (they let their girlfriends ride in the car with them)

Additional street lights

and support for a neighborhood watch.

I dont have a digital copy or I would post it I shortened each issue for the sake of posting this.

We have a very positive response from the community but the town government has come out in force against us. They have stated plainly that they are only required to vote on the petition not actually act upon it. And that they have the right to challenge any signature on the petition if more than one person in the home signs it or the person is not a registered voter. The police force has also started harassing the committee members trying to intimidate us showing up at our homes on what they claim are dispatches from 911 ( I called our Metro Communications office my friend who works there says that the claims are bunk) on a regular basis. They park out side out homes and just sit there watching our houses.

Is any of this illegal?

Has running a petition been ruled on by the supreme court?

How can I fight back? ACLU?

Hey Catmando long time no see to my knowledge you did not post this story on this board. I don't know the answer to your question, your group may think of retaining an attorney that deals with 1983 litigation. Thats about all I can think of.
