hi all

so i was hired at this job and was working there for about 2.5 months. my immediate supervisor was a white female and i was the only african american and male reporting to her. all my colleagues were white females... although i was told by my supervisor via emails and verbally that i was doing a great job my employment was terminated. her reason was that she felt i was only doing a good job because i was on probation, that i was not providing "reasonable eye contact" and she ...

1) If I think I was terminated because of a disability, how does one start the claim process in PA? Do I have to start with PA Human Rights Commission? Philadelphia Human Rights Commission (I was employed in Philly). EEOC? Lawyer? All of these? Some of these?

2) This is all new to me. I called lawyers, and only 2 replied and they both said that I would have to pay them to represent me--employment related cases aren't handled on a contingent basis. Is this correct?

3) I had a breakdown in ...

I was just laid off from my job with a major telecom company. I have worked there for 5 years with excellent performance reviews and sales results every single year. I was given notice of my layoff without explanation. I was the only person in my department laid off and I was also the only person out on maternity leave for 10 weeks this year. I feel that I was discriminated against due to my pregnancy and leave. Do I have any recourse?

This is a letter I wrote to my bosses' boss, to which I never got a reply (not illegal, I know). I was wondering if I wrote anything that could be used against me in terms of defamation of my boss. I would like to blame my poor punctuation on the fact that I wrote this two hours after I got fired and was highly emotional but the real reason is I suck at punctuation, so please be easy on me in that respect........

I posted this over at LLT too

I want your opinions on something. Let's say that a supervisor receives sensetivity training. During the course of that training, the COMPANY ATTORNEY advises that all supervisors/managers have a DUTY to monitor their workplace for signs of harassment/discrimination, things or interactions that COULD BE perceived as harassment/discrimination or could lead to such, and have a duty to make harassment STOP if they see it. The company also requires the manager to ...

Hello - I am a 12 year employee (supervisor) with good performance reviews and no history of discipline problems. I spoke with another female supervisor at our parent company about how the work environment was affecting my health and made negative comments about the Gen.Mgr.(my boss). She relayed this info. back to HR and I was issued a written warning(which in our employee manual is used for cases of serious misconduct) for not reporting through proper channels. When I later read the policy, ...

Diagnosed with a life threatening disability, I must have regular blood testing to monitor my illness. I suffred a stroke in 2004 which took a long time to recover. Prior to starting employment with a Non-Profit agency, I disclosed my medical condition and explained the need for absenses as a result.
